      Yes, participating in the online Universe is not an option. Anticipate eager buyers shopping for what you offer and everywhere they look they will find you and your business.

      Nonetheless, an online business card, although “good enough” ten years ago, is inadequate today. Essential, but inadequate. Online marketing is 20-25% on-the-page and 75-80% off-the-page — basically everywhere else in the online Universe, anywhere else other than your website.

      Leave your breadcrumbs everywhere. Make it easy for them to follow the trail back to you. Nurture them. Give them reason to come back. Offer your best customers great benefit. They will buy from you because they come to trust you. Trust — even in the cold, impersonal online Universe. Give them reason to endorse you and gather those Testimonials like life blood.

    Hi, I saw your video on Minneapolis SEO and was curious why are pointing out how some people rank for obscure keyterms that no one searches. Maybe something like Minneapois Inbound Marketing, which you rank #2 for. But then there is Minneapolis SEO, which people do search and you rank middle of the second page.

    It boggles my mind how you can hold your self out as an expert and not be in a position to compete with your peers. Maybe you should build more links and lay off the videos for a while.

    You say you “I OWN the whole 1st page for that keyword”. So you say SEO is a scam but you must have used SEO to get your site to rank for that term. Which by the way no one searches. This is like saying that my five year old niece ranks number one for minneapolis skunk juice sales. Also who are your clients?

    You are talking about creating mass conversions. Is that done with that nifty hand drawn light bulb with dollar signs in it. Does that represent that the big idea is making money? That’s pretty good.

    The thing is that you have put yourself out there in a loud way. I think that this video is sort of goofy and funny and it made me want to see who is sort of talking smack about those in industry. So when I came to your site I really had a shock. I think guys like you are the problem with this business. You adopt a puffed out chest and big attitude with seeming nothing to back it up. Again, who are your clients? Do you realize that most of your comments on your site are barely vieled attempts at getting a spammy blog comment link.

    So again I am taking the time out of my day to ridicule you because I dont like what you are doing. You cheapen and drain legitimacy from an industry that suffers from a very low barrier of entry. I’m saying get a couple of legit clients and then talk trash after you can back it up with solid client testimonials.

    So your video and site worked on me. I stayed on your site for a few minutes. Is this a conversion?

      Thank you for your vagaries. There are many videos. I’m happy you enjoyed one of them. Controversy has been a common tactic in marketing long before the world wide web. Nowhere can you find me stating SEO is worthless or harmful. Nowhere. Be careful your words. Your innuendo belies your ignorance.
      SEO is not enough. Never has been. Never will be. Marketing is the answer to my clients’ questions. Who they are is no mystery. As one of the top 100 connected people in the world on LinkedIn, even somebody as clever as you can certainly identify many of my clients. Also Google Places. Frankly, I do not care whether or not you like what I do. You do NOT even know what I do. Your assumptions also belie ignorance. You are not my client and my clients do not do business with you. Enough said.
      Of course, when you have something specific to quarrel with, an intelligent conversation is possible.

    My own take on privacy is that at least with Facebook, Twitter, etc. I CHOOSE to put data up there, and am careful in selecting what I do commit to tehse people. After 20 years online in one form or another (I go back to the days of dialup BBS and FIDONETs) I work on the principle that everything I commit online may come back and bite my bottom anyway.
